Desert Rose (the Valley of Roses) - Excerpt

Every year a harvest takes place in the desert valleys of North Africa, where life flourishes in a dry place.

Desert Rose (the Valley of Roses) for orchestra is inspired by a journey in Vallée Des Roses, Morocco, where roses bloom every spring and Palms 84 ‘Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools.’

Here I share an excerpt of my work and glimpses of the journey. The composition is influenced by the repetitive nature of Berber music, of the Amazigh desert tribes.

First performed by the Braşov Filarmonica, conducted by Sebastian Grand, on June 30, 2026, at the Sala Patria, Braşov, Romania.

(Very grateful to the hospitality of BNB Authentique Berbére, Tanmirt Youssef and Sana.)
